Bilateral relations

The Cannabis Embassy develops direct, bilateral relationships with States, alongside its multilateral work within United Nations processes and other international institutions. These relations allow the Cannabis Embassy to engage governments individually: sharing policy analysis, offering technical input on cannabis-related legislation, and building durable channels of dialogue in and outside the formal architecture of multilateral forums.

Bilateral engagement complements the Embassy’s institutional advocacy by allowing for more tailored, context-specific cooperation: supporting a State’s domestic law reform process, contributing expertise to national consultations, or establishing longer-term partnerships with governments open to evidence-based cannabis policy. As a non-territorial, horizontally-governed entity, the Cannabis Embassy approaches these relations as a civil-society complimentary counterpart to States, rather than as a conventional diplomatic actor.

Bilateral relations are diplomatic working relations which rarely give rise to public communication. Hence, this section remains relatively empty; all Embassy’s published work and activity related to its bilateral relations will be added in this section as this dimension of our diplomacy continues to develop.
