The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) is the UN’s main deliberative body, where all Member States are represented. It discusses annually an omnibus resolution on drug policy which essentially consists in reiterating what the Commission on Narcotic Drugs had previously decided.
The Cannabis Embassy’s Permanent Mission to Vienna (which covers New York) follows the UNGA as well as other New York-based UN processes that intersect with Cannabis policy:
- the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC):
- oversees the Commission on Narcotic Drugs and all UN technical commissions
- its NGO Committee also accredits civil society observers to participate in UN processes,
- the Office of the UN Secretary-General (UNSG) and its broader apparatus.

The Cannabis Embassy’s Permanent Mission in Vienna (PM Vienna) is the Cannabis Embassy Government‘s body (under the Ministry of External Affairs) mandated to interact with international organisations headquartered in Vienna (Wien) as well as New-York, Nairobi, and The Hague (Den Haag).
