The name of Region “Mariguana” derives from mariamba, a word which itself originated in Central African Bantu languages (diamba, riamba; the “ma-” is plural marker) and evolved in America and the Caribbean through diffusion by forcefully displaced and enslaved communities.
Variations: marihuana, marijuana, maconha, mariamba, maría, Mary Jane, Santa María, etc.
Region Mariguana spans the island chain of the Caribbean and both neighbouring twin continents of America — from the great northern lights to the radiant gold of Acapulco, all the way to the southernmost hemp plains. Born of resilient journeys across oceans from the regions Sedenegi, Bangue, and Ganja, and shaped in the vibrant soils of Abya Yala or the New World, its reach is framed by two vast oceans and the enduring legacy of communities that gave the plant new life, new uses, new growing techniques, and new names.
The Administrative Regions were approved on 4 Sept. 2024 in ✅ Decision 2024/GOV/13/01 to balance cannabis history, geography, politics, and culture.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MINTA) is in charge of everything internal to the Cannabis Embassy. The MINTA is part of the Government of the Cannabis Embassy and is composed by the following subsidiary bodies:

- CEPSAC (Cannabis Embassy’s Private Sector Advisory Council)
- Council on Embassy Finances & Administration
- Constitutional Council
- Library & Archive (Bibliothecas Archivumque ex Legationis Cannabis)
